Gallery Profile

VTO was formed in 1998 by Jari Lager to allow upcoming artists from Britain and abroad to realise installation projects, and exhibit their work in London. After 7 years of frentic activity VTO has decided to say goodbye and celebrate it with its last exhibition EVERYTHING MUST GO.

VTO had a 1,500 sq ft gallery space, situated on the 1st floor of an east-end warehouse in London. Since it started in 1998 VTO had staged over 70 solo or group exhibitions attracting significant international attention from press and public alike. VTO also participated four consecutive times at the Young Artfair LISTE in Basel, Switzerland.

The gallery promoted over the years up-coming artists whose work cross-boardered several medium. One of the main strengths of the gallery was to enable artists to realise and present ambitious video and installation works. Artists were encouraged to prepare their show to suit the space. For this reason the gallery kept changing its structure, lighting and atmosphere in almost every exhibition.
